Processed with VSCOcam with c1 presetA few weeks ago I had the privilege of attending and doing hair and makeup for the most stunning Montana wedding. As many of you know, I grew up in Wyoming and for much of my life took the scenic views of the western part of the US somewhat for granted. Since moving to Tennessee, I am always in surprised how in awe of the mountains I am when I visit home. I had been to Montana several times, but never to the Three Forks/Bozeman area and I was expecting it to be great… but it far exceeded my expectations. I attended the wedding with several southern friends who had never ventured to this part of the country and it was fun to share in their new excitement of the beautiful scenery.

We stayed at the charming and historic Sacajawea Hotel in Three Forks and were treated to some incredible service including champagne upon check in, breakfast in bed every day, and helpful recommendations from friendly staff about attractions in the area.
Sacajawea Hotel Three Forks MontanaThe hotel itself is beautifully decorated and has a large wrap-around porch with lots of rocking chairs where we enjoyed several cups of coffee. There are also two great restaurants inside the hotel that serve everything from pub food to locally raised organic fare.

Our first adventure was a trip to Norris Hot Springs. What we learned was that everything is about 30 minutes away from anywhere you are in Montana – however this doesn’t end up being a problem because the drives are BEAUTIFUL. Norris Hot Springs – also called “water of the gods” is kind of a hippie watering hole – a relaxing time sitting in hot springs, hoping your body soaks up all of those beneficial minerals whilst also sipping beer or wine, eating food grown in their own garden, enjoying the scenery, and if you make it there on a weekend, enjoying live music. A good friend had told me that this was a must and they were so right!

We knew we wanted to do some hiking and hotel staff suggested the Lewis & Clark Caverns which includes a short but scenic hike up to the caverns and then a tour throughout the caves.

My pics don’t really do justice, so I stole this one from visitmt.com:

We also had fun taking part in all sorts of wedding festivities.

Ashley, the bride, is a former Miss Tennessee USA and many of her friends include other former state titleholders... I'll just say that there were a lot of pretty people attending the wedding!

It was fun doing hair and makeup for such a stunning bride and bridal party. Ashley wanted to keep her makeup really natural and simple and have “hippie hair.” So I created what I’m calling “bends.” (Quotation mark overload.)

She really looks like that. I can't handle that face.

FYI the ceremony was at the top of a hill and it had rained that day, hence my cowboy boots. Don’t you worry, you KNOW I had my heels on the second we got to the reception back at the hotel.

Love these two health nuts – this was a gluten and dairy free chocolate peanut butter cake. IT WAS INSANE HOW GOOD IT WAS! I would pay money to get that recipe.

Wanderlust and Glitter Dust Parisian Stripes

I’ve never been to Paris (yet) but I’ve always had a love affair with the beautiful architecture of the city, it’s food and wine, and especially the glamorous women and designers who reside there. (Chanel anyone!?) Nothing is more très chic than classic black and white. I wanted to do Paris with a little bit of rock and roll doing the classic black and white striped top in a cropped version and pairing it with a vegan leather skirt. The cat eye sunglasses and classic red lip add a little bit of fun retro flair, no? This is making me hungry for a croissant. How do you do Paris?

Y’all might remember my passion for the summer workout I’ve been doing at TITLE Boxing Nashville. Recently they offered me the chance to work one-on-one with one of their best trainers, DJ Miller. One thing I’ve learned since starting my adventure with boxing is that the technique is truly an art. From the way you hold your hand inside your glove, to the muscle you’re powering your punch from, there is a lot that goes into getting the best workout without injuring yourself. TITLE Nashville is now offering you the chance to have two FREE personal training sessions with DJ – just for signing up for classes! That’s right, Wanderlust and Glitter Dust readers who mention this post and sign up for classes for the first time will receive two free hour long one-on-one personal training sessions with DJ.

Firstly, let’s talk about DJ, because he’s badddddd. He has long braids, tattoos, and the kind of muscle tone that will probably never be attainable for my body type… but what better way to try to get it than to work with someone who has it?! Oh, and his background fighting…

DJ is one of top fighters in the country in 2 weight classes (145 and 155 lbs) and holds 8 championship belts. He hopes to start a professional career in 2015… so I guess you could say he knows a thing or two about boxing. He also happens to be patient (necessary when personal training me), knowledgeable, and fun to work with. He’ll kick your butt and you’ll have a great time too.

Here are a few pics from a recent session:

He’s such a good teacher, he taught me how to beat him down. Does this mean I can say that I won 8 championship belts…?

This is going to sound crazy, but taking classes and training with DJ have legitimately made me consider training in the ring more seriously… Who knows I might be the first hipster beauty queen boxer. Be sure to leave me a comment with your questions about boxing and as always, let me know if you’d like to join me at class – I’m there 2-3 times a week. We can sweat (and burn 1,000 calories!) together!

Today I’ve combined a few of my favorite things to wear: denim, leopard, and neon yellow. All of these things seem to look great added to almost any outfit. It’s also typical of me to find deals on clothes (Forever 21… seriously. And I have no shame about it ok?!) but splurge on classic accessories that will stay in style far longer like this Cole Haan crossbody, Charles Albert cuff, and Chloe sunglasses.

I was recently invited to a special beauty blogger event at Nashville’s luxury cosmetic store/spa Private Edition. They sent us all home with ridiculous gift bags filled with all kinds of great products… but one product stands out above the rest – and stands out above any lip product I’ve ever used before. By Terry Baume De Rose is a cult favorite in Hollywood and I can completely understand why… somehow this rose scented lip balm melts into lips like nothing I’ve ever used before. The change of seasons mixed with the waxy texture of some of my lipsticks has sometimes left my lips feeling dry and rough and this product instantly makes those problems disappear! It’s pricey, but if you have dry lips, I promise you’ll have never used anything better!
