This past weekend, I went to Texas to visit family and to cheer on my sister and brother-in-law in a charity dance competition benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters. Ironically, both my sister and I competed in charity ballroom dance competitions this year. Being polar opposites, I loved and relished every moment of being on stage, performing, and wearing tons of makeup and an outrageous sparkly costume whereas my sister was slightly mortified and had to be talked into it. That being said, I didn’t even place in my competition and my sister and brother-in-law won the whole thing. #polaropposites I thought I would embarrass us both by posting both our videos today.

So... their trophy is real and mine was a consolation prize... although, mine would be the ONLY trophy ever given out for a triple rumba... since that dance is a made up dance.

As a girl on the go, I eat out more than I should. Luckily I live in a city that lends itself to a healthy lifestyle. Nashville truly caters to both ends of the food spectrum – delicious southern food dripping in butter and delicious vegan, gluten free, fresh, healthy meals – all prepared in creative, innovative ways. I do my fair share of indulging in both – but today’s post is all about my favorite entree salads all over Nashville that won’t leave you feeling unsatisfied.

1. The Kale Salad at Burger Up – This isn’t the first time I’ve mentioned this salad on this blog – but I can’t stop talking about it and I can’t stop eating it. Kale, dried cherries, hazelnuts, parmesan and lemon. Simple, but so tasty. I recommend adding beets and avocado to make it a little more hearty. I’ve converted many a pal to loving this salad.

Burger Up also has one of my favorite interiors for a casual restaurant in the whole city. I want to hang out here all the time. The ingredients are also sourced locally as much as possible. LOVE that. This photo is from

Today is probably my favorite Fashion Friday post to date – homegirl LOVES to wear some evening gowns. Luckily, I have one of the most talented and generous friends in the world who also happens to own a boutique that sells such evening gowns. (If you read this blog often, then you already know that I’m talking about Steven Fields of JS Fields and Company in Brentwood, Tennessee. He’s also the man responsible for my hair cuts and color.)

The first gown I wore is potentially my favorite gown I’ve ever worn. I love the color, fabric, shape, fit, etc. I tried it on and immediately felt giddy. It’s a Jovani and I never want to give it back. And I want to frolic in it.

If you’d like to know more about what I saw and did backstage at the CMA Awards, check out the story I wrote for 12th and Broad here!

No gown is complete without accessories and I am also uh-bsessed with what I wore as frosting! I have been loving druzy jewelry all this year and Kendra Scott had a bajillion pieces that were perfect. Earthy, but still dressed up and blingy. I love both this Kendra Scott Naomi Double Ring and Kylie Ring. Continue reading

As a little girl growing up in small town Gillette, Wyoming I always dreamed about the glamour of red carpet events and award shows – so much so that there are multiple pieces of footage of me as a small child pretending to interview stars with my first question always being, “Who are you wearing?”
I guess you could say I moved to Music City 7 years ago with stars in my eyes, hoping to get the opportunity to ask that exact question to my favorite celebrities on the red carpet. Last night I got that moment as the beauty and fashion correspondent for Stationed right next to the step and repeat, I was the first stop when stars were finished posing for paparazzi on the carpet.
