I have been on the hunt for a shorts suit for 4 years – one of my besties, Jessica, wore a metallic copper jumpsuit with a huge statement necklace to an event at Miss USA and I’ve been on the hunt for my own ever since.
I recently tried some suits on at Intermix and Nordstrom – both striped, which I usually love, but the bold stripe on both the jacket and shorts were just tooooo much, even for me.
When I saw this gorgeous number at Billy Reid it was literally love at first sight. I can think of about 20 ways I want to style these pieces together and separately almost all year long. (Crisp white button up, band tshirt, chambray top, etc…)
I wanted to keep my look pretty simple last night, so I styled it with low key accessories, my favorite being the most beautiful and delicate necklace from DolceAve Jewelry. Fun fact, this necklace has also been worn by Kourtney Kardashian. I love how this piece is uber delicate, but also makes a statement at the same time. I also love anything that has a “B” or my initials. (Remember my monogrammed leather Fashionable clutch from earlier this week?) I always think personalized pieces make great gifts too!
Last night’s Nashville Fashion Week showcase of local designers was absolutely impressive. Some of Nashville’s best showed their collections on the runway. My favorite was Truly Alvarenga who’s construction is impeccable and her styles are feminine, quirky, and colorful with fun unexpected details. I also loved Amanda Valentine and the Sister’s of Nature showing.
One of my favorite looks from Truly Alvarenga
She showed just how talented she is as a seamstress when my romper had an unexpected wardrobe malfunction with the button that holds the front together and she drug me backstage and stitched it back on much better than how it came in less than 90 seconds! Best place to have a wardrobe malfunction!
Speaking of this romper, can I just tell you how much I love it? The navy color, the cape detail with unexpected cutouts, the a-symmetrical skirt detail. LOVE.
I also have died and gone to heaven with these Lulu Frost earrings… I saw them on Instagram over the weekend and had to have them for this look.
A color combo I’m loving right now is navy and grey and I love the way this bag and these shoes paired with the romper. I’ve had this pair of Brian Atwood heels for about 3 years now and I love the way grey snakeskin seems to go with everything. Somehow I was still able to find these shoes in a couple different colors online. (If you’re a size 9, you’re in luck!)
Tonight Fashion Week continues with an accessories installation at WELD – hope to see you there! (Tickets available here)
Last night kicked off the first night of Nashville Fashion Week. I had such a great time attending the show and interviewing each designer – Nashville Fashion Week always kills it with the designers they bring in as well as the local artists they feature. It’s a week of first class shows and events. If you weren’t at the shows last night, you’re in luck, there’s more where that came from – get your tickets here!
Just trying to do some serious #WERK on the green screen runway with my girl Marcia Masulla… gotta love that #model photo bomb!
It was love at first sight for me with this fun fringe romper which also comes in black. I had three hook and eye’s added to it to close the plunge a little bit, but if you can rock it, I say go for it.
I’m also obsessed with my clutch from Fashionable which they will now personalize for you with your initials. Love. I also think this is my favorite leather color ever – it looks great with everything.
Be sure to follow along on Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat for a more extensive behind-the-scenes look at Nashville Fashion Week!
You could definitely say that I went a little bit crazy with this last playlist – it’s one of my largest ever! I travelled a lot on March and I listen to a ton of music when I’m on the road. I hit the jackpot with finding some really cool artists/songs I hadn’t heard of before like Ady Suleiman (two versions of the same song – “Need Somebody To Love” on this playlist – I love them both that much!) I’m also obsessed with Miguel and his “Waves” remix EP, especially the collaboration with Kacey Musgraves. You’ll also find some oldies but goodies on here – an Alicia Keys track from her first record Songs in A Minor… just as good now as it was then, “Good Life” by Kanye West, and “I Don’t Trust Myself (With Loving You)” by John Mayer. Enjoy! Tell me what you have on repeat!
Let’s be real – my style isn’t aways the most understated or subtle, BUT if there’s ever a time I love to bust out some color, it’s in the spring.
I love everything about this top – I love the poppy color, I love the off the shoulder style, I love that it can be worn both tucked in or loose. (When worn loose it has a blousier fit – is that a word? – and is slightly cropped.)
I’m also always a huge fan of denim and I love the versatility of this button front mini – would be cute with booties, sandals, heels, or regular boots.
I also love to pair contrasting colors together and these turquoise and cobalt earrings look good with almost anything. (They also come in pink and lime.)
