The Grammys… where do I even begin?! The best of fashion and music coming together for a night of epicness that takes my hyperness to the next level… cue the 12th and Broad live tweeting…
Let’s get right to it,
YES! My dream is to have my own woman tux tailored to perfection. This is HAWT!
I mean…. I love this woman and this is STUNNING. This vivid color is absolutely beautiful with her skin and hair and the pop of magenta pushed it over the edge for me. Haters gonna hate, but I unabashedly love T. Swift.
Preppy and a little Pee Wee Hermanesque, but somehow still adorbs. It fits perfectly, love this handsomeness!
With posture like that, I’m certain Nichole could make a potato sack look like haute couture, but this is a hot little number, age appropriate, and a great look for the Grammys. She is totally covered but the little bit of leg and strappy shoe make it ultra sexy. Love this stylish Nashville couple.
Another one repping Nashville right. Um whoa. He looks hawt. Props to my girl Kelly!
This isn’t your typical dressed up look, but it just works. I love it with the sneaks and I love the sleeve tatts poking out. I also might be biased because his album is one of my favorites of the past year, but I think Ed is on point here.
I actually love the purple hair on her – she pulls of a variety of colorful looks beautifully. I actually really like this dress, but something about it isn’t flattering her body… the length? Is it making her look saggy? I can’t pinpoint what it is. I’m also not digging those white satin bridalesque shoes with it.
Part of me loves Miley, part of me thinks she’s ew. And this is ew. That collarbone highlight is beautiful though. Props to her makeup artist for that attention to detail.
This cleavage is what I like to call aggressive… that green jewel is about to be suffocated. And no disrespect, but is it just me or does it almost look like one side of her face got more botox than the other? I could say more, but I’m just going to stop there.
I love that Jane was trying to be young and cool, but looks just like she’s trying (sooo hard) to be young and cool. However, I’ll give credit where credit’s due, she still has a hot little body!
Also, how do y’all feel about neither Katy Perry or Taylor Swift winning any Grammys?! I’m sahd. I also thought Beyonce had the best album of 2014… I wanted Kanye to run up and have another moment in her honor. Great show though and kudos to Sam Smith for CLEANING. UP.
Nothing brings out crazy fashion like MTV’s VMA Awards – shock value is king for what is probably primarily a teenage audience. (So many memorable moments from Britney with the snake to Miley with that foam finger…) I’m here with my best and worst dressed list!
I can’t even handle this. She is 45 years old people and she actually pulls this look off. Gorgeous!
Get serious, I love everything about this. Crop top – check. Sparkle – check. Fringe – check. Now I’m just desperately racking my brain for any occasion where it would be appropriate for me to wear something like this! (Not kidding…)
For once Kylie Jenner gets to have a moment! I think she looks so beautiful! Love a good wrap dress and a nice high slit, get it girl!
Sleek and sexy. I’m into it.
Because confidence and a good sense of humor are ALWAYS fashionable, I commend Katy Perry for doing this hilarious Britney/Justin Timberlake throwback. As if I couldn’t love her any more!
I mean… yuck. I hate anything that flashes a brand across it. Also, I’m sooo tired of seeing her in thigh high boots in every color of the rainbow. Time for a new look! She’s an adorable girl with a cute body… I hope she gets a new stylist STAT.
A desperate cry for attention if I’ve ever seen one. EW. That’s all I’ll say.
I have NEVER seen T. Swift on a worst dressed list – she is so consistently fashionable… and good for her for taking a risk… but… I hate it. It also doesn’t seem to fit the length of her torso if you know what I’m saying.
EW. This is one ill-fitting dress, which makes it look cheap and doesn’t flatter her figure at all. ‘t this fit her body better and they had sewn up that slit just a few inches this could actually be really pretty and elegant.
I might as well mention this fab performance by Sam Smith – LOVED IT! One of my friends tweeted that he satisfies the Adele comeback we’ve all been waiting for and I kind of have to agree with that!
You may remember all the fun I had in LA in December – so much so that I had to split it into 2 posts! (here and here) I was lucky enough to go back about a week ago for some fun work projects with CMT! I was in town for work, but I managed to fit in a few extra activities too.
When I arrived, I picked up my rental car and had a few hours to kill before my first meeting in Marina Del Ray. I decided to wander that way and check it out since I hadn’t been to that part of town. I happened upon Cafe del Rey where I enjoyed friendly service, one of the best salads I’ve ever eaten, and this view:
Beet and Burrata Cheese Salad at Cafe Del Rey. I think I could have eaten 4 of these. So good! I’m going to try to recreate this, I’ll keep you posted!
I still had some time to kill and luckily that time coincided with my friend Dick’s commute home. We decided to meet for some lemonade and a walk down Venice Beach. I hadn’t been to this part of LA before and it was hilarious to walk by Muscle Beach. The next bunch of activities revolved all around work, which by the way was probably the most fun project I’ve worked on this year! CMT was in town shooting THIS!:
Tune in – I had the pleasure of attending this show and it was on another level. These two are a creative match made in heaven. They also wore custom self designed costumes, sang in perfect harmony, and made plenty of hilarious jokes. I can’t wait to watch it again! PS: How fab is this Hatch Show Print?! I would love to get my hands on one!
I can’t even handle how much I love each of them.
Tic Tac is the sponsor of this edition of CMT Crossroads and I got to star in a commercial promoting the special 50th episode. Look for me soon on CMT and possibly VH1! The commercial was shot on the Sony Pictures Lot which was fun for this Nashville girl to go to work on. I loved walking to my hair and makeup trailer and seeing that these two were right next to it.
Katy Perry’s wardrobe was set up on the other end of our trailer… couldn’t help taking a peek! I want a rainbow assortment of shoes like hers! :)
I also got to wear a really fun retro look for the shoot.
I loved the makeup artist Bethany. A.) She is super cool and from Colorado and B.) She is great at what she does. I usually hate getting my hair and makeup done by anyone else but she nailed it. The curls she gave me lasted for the next two days!
But before I show you, let me take a selfie. haha
The costume was designed and styled by the talented Amanda Valentine. (Project Runway fans will remember her from a couple of seasons ago. Some of you fashionistas may be familiar with her line Valentine Valentine.) She was assisted by the talented and creative Cheryl King who somehow made the adorable pillbox hat I wore and designed and made the Tic Tac tray I carry around in the promo.
Cheryl putting some last minute touches on the hat. Bonus: She is a professional belly dancer and taught (or tried…) us a few moves. Score!
The brains behind the commercial, Scott! It shouldn’t be called work when you get paid to have this much fun!
Once the spot is out, I’ll be sure to share it along with a few more photos!
That night I went to Villa Blanca for dinner with my friend Ray. It was even more delicious than the last time I was there. We are both avid Real Housewives fans, so it was fun bumping into Lisa Vanderpump!
Isn’t she fab?!
It wouldn’t be right to dine at Villa Blanca and not have a glass of rosé!
Wise words from Lisa herself, “Life isn’t aaaaalways diamonds and rosé, but it SHOULD be!” haha
Acting like tourists and not caring one bit!
The first time we bonded about loving RHOBH, we talked about wanting to go to Villa Blanca together – who knew that several months later, it would actually happen!
A stunning floral arrangement in the lobby of the Beverly Hills Hotel.
From what I understand, all of Hollywood’s biggest deals are made here. :)
Salad with strawberries and toast with (more) burrata cheese and olive oil. Yummmm.
A friend in Nashville suggested that I should have lunch with one of his great friends, Leonardo, while in LA. Never one to turn down new friends, I took him up on the offer. I am so glad I did! Leonardo has lived a colorful life which has included: living all over the world, having a successful career as a cardiologist, and building and selling several very successful companies.
It was fun to pick his brain over lunch about what makes a person successful. Some of his advice included:
1. Realize there is no such thing as failure. The only things that happen are: success, or learning something. If you learned something, take that knowledge, apply it, and keep trying.
2. Don’t take no for an answer.
3. The enemy of the good is the very good.
4. Never get too comfortable, always strive to achieve more.
I have a feeling that this lunch was only the start to a long friendship.
It was also fun to get to stay with and see a little bit of my childhood best friend Claire! We painted LA red one night with our friends who also happen to be two former Miss California’s, Meagan and Mabelynn! Each time I go to LA, I find that I love it more and more. The weather is perfection, the people are so nice, and there are a million fun things to do! I hope to be back soon! What are your favorite LA activities?
If y’all know me or come here often, then you know what a music lover I am. I think I actually spend hours every day listening to music of all genres. I think I’m going to start posting a playlist a month of some of my favorite songs of the moment. This month there are 13 tracks old and new that I’m loving. You’ll find that my taste is all over the map – let me know if I’ve helped you discover any great new songs and I would love to hear what you’re listening to right now! (You have to have a Spotify account to listen, but signing up is free!)
