The time has come to start thinking about your New Year’s Eve outfit (if you haven’t already!) I recently teamed up with Free People, Country Music is Love, and my photographer Kara McLeland to write a style, shoot, and write a piece on that very subject. Check out our full story and photographs here! I wanted to do my own little piece here to talk more in depth about all the specific pieces I wore for the shoot.
Day 2 of pre taping was filled with running around downtown Nashville doing segments backstage at Bridgestone Arena where the awards are held, at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, and at Hatch Show Print. Be sure to look for all this week’s looks during our live broadcast tonight starting at 5 Central at: http://abc.go.com/shows/cma-awards/live I’ll be starting on the red carpet and then moving backstage to the press room once the awards start! Can’t wait! Continue reading →
One of my favorite looks year around is a shirtdress. I own tons of them – they are easy to throw on, comfortable, flattering, and can easily be dressed up or down. I pair them with all types of shoes and accessories. This week’s look is paired with some accessories that I’m just loving right now – my favorite new earrings – reversible studs from Stella and Dot that are tough on one side and girly on the other. I also got to break out my Darby’s Boot Socks for the first time from a line called Boot Socks. A pretty genius concept – a nylon tight that I love to wear all fall and winter long, but with a sock on the bottom that is perfect for wearing with all of your boots. Continue reading →
You may remember last week’s post on country music festival fashion. WELL, this week I’m getting all sorts of crazy and talking Bonnaroo festival fashion. Bonnaroo is similar to festivals like Coachella where anything goes and too much is never enough. I love the whimsy of the blue tinted heart shaped glasses and the idea of wearing a one piece bathing suit with your outfit since it will likely be 100 degrees. My one piece is pretty much an exact replica of the L Space and Vix fringe monokinis, but rather than paying hundreds, I got mine for $24.99… can’t beat that! Any readers heading to Bonnaroo next week? Unfortunately, I’m missing this year, report back on your favorite shows!
As I have been working on a post of my top 5 pageant tips (look for that Monday!), I couldn’t help but get distracted by this hilarious photo from when I competed in the Miss Wyoming Teen competition. CHECK OUT THOSE SHOES!!!!! This makes me think that I should do a top 6 pageant tips where my 6th tip would be not to wear clear high heels…
Swimsuit competition in 2004 at Miss Wyoming Teen USA competition – A couple of comments: 1.) Um… are those CLEAR KITTEN HEELS?! It looks like it… remember when people used to wear those? Yikes… 2.) My hair is a hot mess 3.) How did they actually crown this girl?! lol
I have a tangible solution for the clear pageant shoe problem: This shoe (named the Henrika and sold in gold and pewter) from Nine West is on sale for $39.99 right now. I own both colors and wore the gold with my evening gown at Miss USA. Kimi G (state director of TN, GA, and MS) owns the pewter, and Emily, Miss Tennessee Teen USA wore them with her evening gown at Miss Teen USA. They are perfect to wear with a gown or cocktail dress – tall (5 1/4”!), stylish, supportive, and best of all not a nasty clear pageant shoe like the one shown above! Another bonus is that they look just like a Jimmy Choo! Pick some up before they’re gone here!
