Workin’ On My Fitness

As Miss Tennessee USA, I get a lot of questions asking me about my workout plan. I have to give credit to my sponsors, they are doing a great job whipping me into shape! I wanted to give some credit to the two places that I feel have shaped me up the most.

Results Fitness: I’ve been going to Results since they opened – it is a boutique fitness center located right on music row that offers some of the best group fitness classes you’ll ever sweat through. They are a combination of cardio and strength training. I can promise that you will be challenged, out of breath, and sore. However, I can also promise that you’ll never get bored during the workout, the music will pump you up, and the teachers will become your friends. Classes are usually $18, but are on special right now for $15. You can also purchase packages for more of a discount.

Who would ever think this beautiful cottage would have a gym inside it?! So cool!

In addition to attending group classes, I also do one-on-one sessions with my personal trainer, Josh Rogers, one of the owners at Results. Somehow he is lovable even in the midst of all that pain! So lovable in fact, that for four years, he has been the one I call anytime I need to be in swimsuit shape!

Pure Barre: I have been attending Pure Barre off and on for about 3 years and love the way it has reshaped areas of my body that are usually pretty unresponsive to exercise. The Pure Barre motto is “lift, tone, burn” and that’s exactly what it does. The technique is different than any other workout I had done before – the movements are tiny and stem only from the specific muscle that you are working. Students work a muscle until it is completely fatigued and then streeeeetch it all out. Muscles will appear lengthened and more toned in only a matter of time. I have especially noticed results in my arms, abs, and as the Pure Barrians call it, “seat.”

Each class is a different combination of floor, mat, and barre work.

Pure Barre is a franchise with studios all over the United States. The Nashville area has a Green Hills location and a Brentwood location. I love is that the Nashville studios are owned and run by a female in her mid-twenties. I always love to see a power woman, and a young one at that!

    How many times a week do you work out and for how long? I am going to be in the Miss Tennessee USA 2014 pageant, so I was curious as to how much time in the gym I need to be spending.

      It depends on how close to competition I am! However, even if I’m not competing I aim to work out 5 times a week. If I were you I would consult with a trainer (Josh is the official trainer for Miss Tennessee USA) and they can put you on a good plan for your body since everyone is different. You may need to lose weight, gain weight, gain muscle, lose muscle, etc.! Good luck!
